Ruined Mall
Here's the concept of the mall that I am working on. I found these really good images of a ruined mall and stores that I thought were perfect for inspiration. So I'll be taking heavily from these. I also have the general layout of the mall that I'll be building. The darker spots in the image are craters, or collapsed areas of the mall. As far as flora are concerned, I was planning on having a bunch of dead trees, as well as a dirty old, fake Christmas tree somewhere. I have not decided yet on the placement of hills, as well as some other details that I want in the piece, such as lighting fixtures, drains, fallen trees etc.

The terrain is probably going to be difficult to nail. I like the idea (especially since I have wondered the same thing) so its going to be interesting to see how it develops. I'd really like to find out what exactly happened here. Seeing more direct color choices (like a pallet) would be really nice too.
ReplyDeleteI think that your terrain should contain a road close to the mall--with a little foliage around. I like the idea of dead trees.

ReplyDeleteGood job, the concept is solid and working. I'm interested in what is around the mall in terms of the area.
Curious to see where you will take this past concept. I know for most large malls they have huge parking lots which have trees so maybe you could use that and have some grass growing through cracks of roads.
ReplyDeleteI love the ruined mall idea it's great for horror. Since you're doing more indoors and there won't be a whole bunch of foliage it might be nice to have some areas where the outside is trying to retake the inside like vines starting to grow through windows or something depending on how long the mall has been abandoned. I love the idea of having a dead Christmas tree somewhere in the mall.
